Gunmen Attack Jos Teaching Hospital, Kill Guard

Unknown gunmen invaded the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), Plateau State in the early hours of today, killing a security guard.
According to Punch report, the gunmen who came in through the Laminga end of the hospital gate in a Vectra car had tried to force their way into the premises, refusing to be checked by the security guards at the stop and search security post at the gate

A disagreement ensued as the security guards insisted on checking the booth of the car. They succeeded in opening the booth and surprisingly found a cache of arms inside.
The guards were said to have raised an alarm and the gunmen opened fire on them, shooting one before fleeing the scene.

He was rushed into the JUTH hospital for treatment but he later died.

After the incident which created pandemonium in the hospital, some patients discharge themselves, while others on routine visit hurriedly left the hospital.
Confirming the incident, Police Public Relations officer, DSP Emmanuel Abuh said the police is working hard to ensure the culprits are apprehended and brought to justice.

He added that the police commissioner, Mr. Nasiru Oki, has deployed security personnel to the hospital following the incidence while appealing to citizens of the state to remain calm as the police is out to ensure safety of its citizens.
